In the course of its business activities, the MEDIPAL Group respects the individuality of its employees and attaches great importance to their right to pursue happiness. We are engaged in ongoing efforts to build environments that protect the human and working rights of every individual, such as by establishing internal regulations and an external hotline. We strive to eliminate every type of harassment or discrimination based on gender, age, race, nationality, beliefs, religion, social status, or physical and mental disability, while also making it our basic stance to respect the human rights of all the stakeholders involved in our businesses.
MEDIPAL GROUP Human Rights Policy
The MEDIPAL Group conducts its business activities based on the management philosophy of "Contributing to people's health and the advancement of society through creation of value in distribution" We believe that respect for human rights, which are fundamental rights that all people are born with, is the foundation that supports all of our business activities and leads to the sustainable growth of the company.
Based on our management philosophy, we have formulated and will implement the "MEDIPAL Group Human Rights Policy" (hereinafter referred to as "this Policy") as our policy on respecting human rights.
1.Commitment to Respecting Human Rights
The MEDIPAL Group will act with the group's shared values of "Integrity," " Morality," and "Sense of Mission," as well as social decency, and will fulfill its responsibility to respect human rights as a corporate group that is trusted by society.
2.Supporting and Respecting International Norms
The MEDIPAL Group complies with all applicable laws and regulations in its business activities, and also supports and respects international norms related to human rights, such as the International Bill of Human Rights, which stipulates the basic human rights that all people around the world should enjoy, and the International Labor Organization's (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, which stipulates basic rights at work. Furthermore, in the event that a conflict arises between the laws and regulations of each country or region in which we conduct our business activities and internationally recognized human rights norms, we will pursue ways to respect internationally recognized human rights principles.
3.Scope of Application
This policy applies to all directors and employees of the MEDIPAL Group. We also encourage all business partners and other related parties involved in our business activities to uphold this policy and work together to respect human rights.
4.Governance and Management Structure regarding Human Rights
The MEDIPAL Group's initiatives regarding respecting human rights will be discussed by the CSR Committee, which promotes sustainability management, and then compliance with this policy and the initiatives will be overseen by the Board of Directors.
5.Human Rights Due Diligence
The MEDIPAL Group will conduct human rights due diligence to identify, prevent, and mitigate any adverse impacts on human rights that may arise from its business activities.
6.Human Rights Priority Issues
- (1) Non-Discrimination
The MEDIPAL Group prohibits discrimination of any kind on the basis of gender, age, race, nationality, creed, religion, ideology, social status, or physical or mental disability. - (2) Prohibition of Inhumane Treatment
The MEDIPAL Group prohibits all inhumane treatment, including physical and mental abuse and harassment. - (3) Appropriate Management of Working Hours and Securing Wages
The MEDIPAL Group will appropriately manage working hours, holidays, and vacations in accordance with the law, and will adhere to the statutory minimum wage. - (4) Providing a Safe, Hygienic and Healthy Working Environment
The MEDIPAL Group will comply with the law and support the provision of a safe, hygienic, and healthy working environment for all people who support our business, including not only our employees but also those in our supply chain. - (5) Freedom of Association and the Right to Collective Bargaining
The MEDIPAL Group respects freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining in accordance with the law. - (6) Prohibition of Forced Labor and Child Labor
The MEDIPAL Group will never permit or allow forced labor against anyone's will, or the labor of children below the legal working age. - (7) Respect for Privacy and Protection of Personal Information
The MEDIPAL Group respects and protects the privacy of individuals. When handling personal information, we comply with relevant laws and regulations, strive to take appropriate measures, and prevent loss or leakage of information. - (8) Promotion of Diversity and Inclusion
The MEDIPAL Group respects all people with diverse values and aims to create an environment in which everyone can thrive fairly.
7.Corrective Actions and Remedies
In order to more broadly identify and prevent/mitigate adverse human rights impacts from our business activities, the MEDIPAL Group will establish and properly operate a system for receiving consultations from internal and external stakeholders. In addition, if it becomes clear that the MEDIPAL Group's business activities have caused or are involved in adverse human rights impacts, we will take appropriate steps to remedy the situation.
8.Dialogue and Consultation
The MEDIPAL Group strives to understand the impact of its business activities, engages in dialogue and discussions with various stakeholders in order to deal with such impacts appropriately, and builds relationships of trust.
9.Education and Pervasion
The MEDIPAL Group will incorporate this policy into all of its business activities, provide ongoing education to its directors and employees, and strive to foster awareness among each individual to ensure that they respond appropriately.
10.Disclosure of Policy and Information
We will regularly report on our human rights initiatives and their progress through our website and various reports.

Initiatives of Respect for Human Rights
Based on our Human Rights Policy, the MEDIPAL Group identifies impacts on human rights through internal and external assessments, takes preventive and responsive measures against identified risks, and provides appropriate remedies as necessary.
Due diligence for human rights
In our Group, we are advancing initiatives based on a human rights due diligence framework with the aim of preventing and mitigating adverse human rights impacts in our business activities.
We regularly conduct risk questionnaires and interviews with Group companies to identify priority human rights issues, evaluating them along the axes.
Fostering awareness and understanding among employees
To foster awareness and promote understanding based on our Human Rights Policy, we conduct awareness-raising initiatives for all employees.
Key Initiatives
- Training programs on diversity and inclusion and unconscious bias, information security, and harassment prevention (including sexual harassment and power harassment).
- Continuous information-sharing, such as posting awareness-raising posters and so forth.
Development of Harassment Prevention Regulations
We have established the necessary regulations across our Group companies to prevent all forms of harassment and have set up systems that allow all employees to work with peace of mind. We take strict measures in cases of improper actions while ensuring that anyone making a consultation about harassment will not face disadvantageous treatment.
Establishment of a Harassment and Interpersonal Relation Hotline
We have established an external hotline that employees can use for consultations regarding sexual harassment, power harassment, gender harassment, interpersonal relation issues, and other such problems. The consultations are dealt with by qualified industrial counselors, clinical psychologists, and psychiatric social workers. They can be made 24 hours a day via telephone or online. We also accept anonymous consultations.
